Second International Digital Oilfield Conference (IDOC 2011) was opened this Tuesday with a keynote speech from the Senior Vice President of ADCO (Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations) Engineering and Projects, Saleh Al Wahedi on behalf of the ADNOC Group.
     
 
 
 
 
PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS May 23  
   
 

These workshops are FREE TO ATTEND and aimed at project managers, supervisors, and technical professionals responsible for launching integrated Digital Oilfield projects for their companies and provide a practical view that will help them properly scope their projects, accelerate design and deployment, and incorporate best practices in managing organisational change and continuous improvement.

  It is the intention that after attending the workshop of your choice, delegates will be able to return to their offices equipped with sufficient understanding to begin implementing DOF in the workplace.
  They will be flexible and informal workshops with plenty of interactive participation so that they address the delegates’ issues and needs.

  This workshop provides an opportunity to review the recent history of the Digital Oilfield and hear from industry experts about their experiences in implementing Digital Oilfield programmes in major oil and gas companies worldwide.
  This workshop will cover the main elements needed for a successful implementation from a business, functional and delivery perspective and include examples from Subsurface, Wells, Drilling, Operations, Projects and Collaborative working. Examples of best practice and as well as lessons learned on what not to do will be given.

Aims of the workshop:

The main objective is to give participants hands-on practical experience in developing a Digital Oilfield implementation strategy. A hypothetical scenario complete with business and technical objectives, along with operating environment constraints will be presented for discussion. Working in teams, attendees will be challenged to propose their own strategies for achieving specific objectives. Workshop leaders will provide input from real world implementations, guiding the teams as needed. Each team will be required to defend their ideas and recommendations to the remaining attendees.

DOF solution components will be presented and discussed throughout the workshop using the real-world based hypothetical. Key benefits include guiding participants through the necessary thought processes for defining a customized DOF solution to deliver clear business and financial objectives.

Recommended attendees include anyone involved with the implementation of DOF from all relevant backgrounds.

  Mr. Stephen Ashley is the Technical Consulting Manager for the Middle East and Asia for Schlumberger. He has over 25 years industry experience ranging from Seismic Operations, IT Management, Technical business development, Knowledge Management and Technical Consulting. He works with clients to create integrated solutions that deliver real business value.
 
Juan Carlos G. Bonilla
 

Mr. Bonilla is a Senior Technical Consultant with Schlumberger. He works extensively with clients to formulate technology strategies based on business impact and cost-benefit analysis, while also managing the change brought about by their subsequent implementation. He is currently working with KOC in their Digital Oilfield efforts.
